Description

This product is the cultivated variety of the Asteraceae plant Chrysanthemum, known as 'Gongju,' with its dried head-like inflorescences. Harvested in batches during the peak blooming period from September to November.

The ligulate flowers are arranged in multiple layers, white or yellow in color, with a small and uniform floral center. The texture is light, with a crispy consistency. The fragrance is pleasant, and the taste is sweet. Gongju, also known as 'Huiju,' is a traditional product from Huangshan city in the Anhui province, China. It is one of the four renowned chrysanthemums in China, named because it was once offered as a tribute to emperors. The 'Bencao Gangmu' mentions that chrysanthemums have sweet and cold properties, effective in dispersing heat, balancing the liver, and improving vision. It is used to make tea, producing a clear and bright infusion with a sweet and refreshing taste, accompanied by a subtle sweetness. After multiple infusions, the color turns slightly brown, reflecting the delicacy of the original tea that cannot withstand high temperatures.

Gongju chrysanthemum buds have detoxifying properties, promote blood circulation, and enhance skin complexion.
