Native to the Middle East, Ispaghula or «blood plantain» is cultivated essentially in India and Pakistan.
Because of their mucilage content and high fibre content, the Ispaghula seeds regulate the digestive process, promote the elimination and alleviate the gastro-intestinal disorders. In addition, they help the food bolus digestion and they have a protective role on the gastrointestinal walls. Usage
Place 10-15 g of seeds in 500 mL of water, macerate for 20 minutes, bring to the boil and simmer for 20 minutes before serving.
