"It is my heartfelt wish that those who read this book will not fall into the trap of a superficial acupuncture therapy, contenting themselves with learning only the 'points that work' gleaned from their teachers or their colleagues. Bring medicine to life by integrating the system of meridian theory into it, broaden its fields of application, and innovate while keeping theoretical integrity. The field of acupuncture must continue to develop and grow, and reach the point of treating the new diseases of modern times while keeping a solid mastery of its foundations." — Wang Ju-Yi

This work shows us how a better understanding of the relations between organ theory and meridian theory can lead us to a more precise diagnosis and to better clinical results.

This book was born from a collaboration between Wang Ju-Yi, one of the most recognised scholars and practitioners of Chinese medicine in China today, and his American student, Jason Robertson.

While most works focus either on the organs and their basic physiology, or on the use of meridians within the framework of treatment, this book describes the fundamental relations that exist between the two. Theory and practice are linked by the method of meridian palpation developed by Dr Wang, which allows for a more precise and effective choice, location and needling technique of points.

This work was developed during the training that J. Robertson undertook with Dr Wang in Beijing. It takes a unique form that preserves the intimacy of the dialogue between master and disciple, includes an exchange of questions and answers, and also contains stories and clinical cases.
