Hijiki (Hai zao in Chinese) is a genus of edible brown seaweed found in Asia. Its Latin name Sargassum is inspired from the Sargasso Sea, where seaweed is abundant. Traditionally used for thyroid disorders, it is also recommended for reducing appetite and promoting weight loss.
