Usages

As a tea – Light and quick to prepare

  • Infuse 8 to 12 slices of astragalus (about 10 g) of Huang Qi in a large cup of boiling water for 10 to 15 minutes.
  • Re-infuse the same slices 2 to 3 times throughout the day and sip regularly for gentle support.

As a decoction – A deeper extraction of benefits

  • Add 10–15 g (about 12 to 18 slices) of Huang Qi to 500 mL of water.
  • Let it soak for 10 minutes.
  • Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 20 minutes before serving.

Weekend Soup – Immunity Ritual for the Whole Family

A comforting recipe to gently strengthen natural defenses.

Ingredients (for 4 to 6 people)

  • 15 g of dried astragalus slices
  • 1 whole chicken leg or 500 g of free-range chicken (or pork ribs cut into pieces)
  • 5 g of imperial ginseng
  • 10 g of goji berries
  • 2 to 3 slices of fresh ginger
  • 1 to 2 dried shiitake mushrooms (optional)
  • 1.5 L of filtered water
  • Fine salt and white pepper (to taste)

Preparation

  • Briefly rinse all the herbs (astragalus, ginseng, goji, shiitake).
  • In a large pot, place the chicken (or ribs), herbs, ginger, and mushrooms.
  • Add cold water and bring to a boil over high heat.
  • Once boiling, skim off any foam from the surface.
  • Cover partially and let simmer over low heat for 2 hours.
  • At the end of cooking, add a pinch of salt and a bit of white pepper.
  • Strain or serve as is, depending on your preference.
