The theory of the Zang Fu is the very foundation of the vital organisation of the human being: it studies the physiological and pathological activity of the organs, their relationships with one another and with the various structures of the body (Qi, Blood, body fluids, meridians, tissues), and those of the individual with fellow beings on the one hand and with the environment on the other.

The role of the Zang and the Fu is to maintain a harmonious interaction between the body and the outside environment. Each organ is associated with a vital substance, a tissue, a sensory organ and an emotion, which allows for a rapid and holistic assessment of that organ's state.

In this book, the syndromes of each organ are presented in synoptic tables. For each syndrome, the aetio-pathogenesis, symptoms, pulses, tongue state, treatment principles, a selection of acupuncture points and a Chinese pharmacopoeia formula are examined. This innovative form of presentation should facilitate the learning of acupuncture and also support already-trained acupuncturists.
