This work complements the books Les principes fondamentaux de la médecine chinoise and Le diagnostic en médecine chinoise by applying the theory of Chinese medicine to the diagnosis and treatment of illnesses. 48 common conditions are presented, including: tinnitus, asthma, allergies, depression, hypertension, allergic rhinitis, and more. The alphabetical ordering chosen for this new edition makes it easy to consult.

Each chapter presents: the aetiology and pathology; the choice of therapeutic approaches using acupuncture and herbal preparations; differential diagnosis according to Chinese medicine; correlation with Western differential diagnosis; clinical cases; and aspects of prognosis and prevention.

This new full-colour edition has been enriched with clinical tips and additional photographs that serve as an aid to diagnosis. "Red flags" indicating symptoms that may warrant referral to a Western medical practitioner have also been added. The sections on Western differential diagnosis and on clinical trials have been updated, as have the references. Finally, four new appendices have been added.

Together, these additions, the fully redesigned layout, the rich iconography and the many boxed features reinforce the practical and educational character of this work.
