Description

Lotus Leaves: allies for summer lightness

In China, lotus leaves, known as He Ye, immediately evoke summer, heavy heat and the desire to feel fresher, lighter and less weighed down. Traditionally associated with dispelling summer Dampness and easing the heaviness caused by dietary excess, they are among the great Chinese botanicals that naturally connect well-being, seasonality and the art of living. Their role is particularly distinctive because they have long been valued both in traditional herbal practice and in everyday food culture.

Lighten the body and restore clarity

Chinese tradition attributes a very particular action to lotus leaves: helping the body distribute what is useful more effectively while releasing what weighs it down. This ancient concept, known as sheng qing, reflects a subtle vision of inner balance: supporting what nourishes, eliminating what causes congestion, and restoring a feeling of clarity and lightness. This is what truly sets lotus leaves apart from ordinary draining plants: they do not merely encourage elimination, but also help the body regain a clearer, more organised and harmonious dynamic.

An emblematic leaf for fat balance

Lotus leaves have long been associated with weight management and the regulation of excess. Modern research has shown particular interest in their flavonoids, alkaloids, polysaccharides and other active compounds, often studied in relation to lipid metabolism, weight management and antioxidant activity. This convergence between tradition and research gives lotus leaf a distinctly contemporary profile: that of a balancing botanical, especially relevant when the diet is rich, the body feels more burdened by excess fat, or the silhouette appears less harmonious.

Essential benefits

Summer lightness & a less heavy body

Lotus leaves are traditionally used during periods when heat, Dampness or dietary excess create feelings of heaviness, sluggishness or overload.

A more harmonious silhouette & fat balance

Traditionally associated with weight management, lotus leaves continue to be studied for their role in lipid regulation and fat metabolism.

Gentle drainage & a feeling of inner clarity

In line with the Chinese concept of sheng qing—better distributing what nourishes and eliminating what causes congestion—lotus leaves help the body regain a sense of clarity, order and fluidity, without harshness.
