Description

Red Ginseng: a Transformed Root, Deeper and Warmer

Red ginseng, or Hong Shen, is obtained from the root of Panax ginseng through gentle steaming before drying. This traditional process naturally alters the root’s structure, intensifies its color, and concentrates certain characteristic compounds, particularly ginsenosides. Compared to unprocessed ginseng, red ginseng is recognized for its warmer and more strengthening nature. It fits into a gradual approach to supporting the body, especially when energy becomes less stable or harder to sustain over time.

Traditional Chinese Perspective: Supporting Fundamental Energy

In Chinese tradition, red ginseng is associated with supporting Qi, understood as the foundational energy that allows the body to function continuously, coherently, and resiliently. Its warming nature makes it particularly suitable for weakened constitutions: feelings of cold, persistent fatigue, or periods of recovery and transition when the body needs to rebuild before moving forward.

Rather than seeking a quick boost, red ginseng is traditionally used to strengthen the energy foundation, promoting more stable vitality, better endurance, and an enhanced capacity to adapt to repeated demands.

Warmth, Alertness, and Daily Resilience

Foundational Energy & Endurance

Red ginseng supports periods when energy seems to deplete faster than it can be renewed. It aids recovery and sustains vitality over time without overtaxing the body.

Stable Alertness & Mental Clarity

Traditionally associated with presence and lucidity, it helps maintain attention and focus during prolonged physical or mental demands, without causing restlessness.

Resilience & Adaptation of the Body

Thanks to its natural richness in plant compounds, red ginseng is studied today for its role in supporting the body’s ability to adapt during periods of fatigue, stress, or changes in rhythm.

Red Ginseng & Japanese Solomon’s Seal Infusion: balanced energy

This traditional pairing combines the tonifying strength of red ginseng with the gentle, nourishing softness of Japanese Solomon’s Seal.
It supports vitality without excess, bringing warmth, steady energy, and inner comfort, while helping preserve fluid balance and a calm mind.

Ingredients

  • 2 to 3 slices of red ginseng
  • 5 to 8 g of Japanese Solomon’s Seal
  • 500 ml water

Preparation

  • Place the ingredients in a saucepan with cold water.
  • Bring gently to a simmer, then let it cook for 15 to 20 minutes over low heat.
  • Strain and enjoy hot or warm, preferably during the day.

Ideal during times of fatigue, recovery, or whenever you’re looking for steadier energy without overstimulation or dryness.

Warnings

  • As a precaution, it is recommended not to combine it with other strongly stimulating herbs, or with certain herbs traditionally considered incompatible, such as Veratrum nigrum (Li Lu) or Trogopterus xanthipes (Wu Ling Zhi).
  • If you are taking medication (especially for diabetes), seek advice from your doctor or pharmacist before use.

  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • This food supplement does not replace a varied, balanced diet or a healthy lifestyle.
