Radix Bupleuri, or Chai hu, is a plant native to East Asia. Its action on the Liver and its soothing properties make it an effective plant for restoring mental well-being.
In TCM, the Liver is associated with emotional management. Thus, when its Qi is blocked, effects on mood are observed. Chinese pharmacopoeia recommends Chai hu to tonify the Liver Qi in order to alleviate emotional imbalances. In addition, Chai hu soothes the Spirit to allow a complete return to emotional serenity and relaxation.
